We are delighted to welcome Stephen Whittle as our new Head Chef at The Top House Inn. Since, Stephen’s arrival just over a week ago the kitchen has been a hive of activity and creativity as the new spring menus are planned.
Stephen has extensive knowledge and experience gained throughout his catering career and worked most recently as Head Chef at Port Navas Yacht Club and previously at The Tap House in St Agnes. Stephen has also worked as a Trainer assessor in BTEC and NVQ qualifications in hospitality services, where he supported, assessed and trained catering staff on learning programmes in their workplace in association with their employer.
Stephen is committed to using fresh local produce and enjoys working with seasonal ingredients to produce great quality food. With a particular interest in pastry and patisserie we are looking forward to proper pies when our new menu launches just before Easter and some super desserts too! Homemade scones are making a comeback too, so cream teas will be back on the menu!
Stephen is supported by second chef Kevin Roberts who has worked for us here for the last 4 years when we took over in March 2010 and for the previous owners and owners before them, so in total 13 years! Our kitchen team also includes sous chefs, Jean Bradshaw and Colin Hodgson who work alongside Kevin and Stephen on day and evening shifts as well as producing wonderful breakfast’s which we won an award for last year!
